Ringing in the New Year

Happy 2008 to you all!

I rang in the new year with some scrapbooking! That's right...it was a rockin' New Year's Eve at our house. A little xbox live for him, a little scrapbooking for me. Too many salt & vinegar chips. We really know how to party. Anyway, I got all the projects done for the January Kit.

I'm looking forward to a great 2008. I don't know why, but everything seems rosy right now. I've got alot of little ideas germinating for the Workshop, that hopefully will blossom into big things all around.

If you're a serial blog reader, then you probably have an inkling of all the drama and disruption in the scrapbooking world in 2007. Contests gone bad, divas running amok, designers with big talent and bigger egos being trashed and smacked all over the place. Companies going under, stores closing, kit clubs folding. (You didn't hear about it here; I don't like to dwell on the negative. If you want some dirt you can look here and here and here.)

Can we all forget about the drama and get back to scrapping and what its really about? you know...the FUN stuff. Scrapbooking originated as a way to preserve memories and photos. (in the beginning there were rarely photos, and mostly memorabilia, and nobody knew or cared about acid) Along the way it became a means of artistic expression, a social network, a stress-reliever. Scrapbooking can be educational, inspiring and theraputic. Its a wonderful hobby with a purpose. And you don't need any special skills or talents to do it. Just desire. And a little inspiration.

So here's a little inspiration for you. This is the January 2008 Page Builders Club Kit. If "getting more scrapbooking done" is one of your New Years Resolutions, this kit will be a big help.

I'll do my best to post a couple of the projects I made with this kit in the next day or so. In the meantime, why don't you share what YOU'VE been working on? Upload one or more layouts to the Gallery (our poor, neglected little gallery needs a little boost!), then come back here and post that you did. If 10 or more people upload to the gallery by Jan 9, I'll enter all the names in a draw for some American Crafts Thickers.
