Somehow I got redirected to this entry on a blog I don't think I've ever visited before.
Don't Knock it Til You Try It.
Which got me to thinking....
What is your secret glorious/disgusting food combo? What horror do you put on a sandwich? Do you have a favourite nasty popcorn topping?
Display the skeletons of your culinary closet in a layout!
For the record, peanut butter & pickle sandwiches aren't that bad. Pickles & cheddar are pretty good too. And Elvis really had something with pb & banana sandwiches, though I have yet to try them with bacon.
Have you ever sprinkled sugar on tomato slices? How about a butter (not margarine) and sugar sandwich? Strawberry yogurt is pretty good on corn flakes.
Happy Scrapping!
Sandra

Your personal style.
Once again, Stacy Julian hits the nail on the head. In this video she talks about exploring, defining and embracing your personal style. Don't think you have a style? Think again!
I love introducing people to scrapbooking, and I'm always happy to help with colour and product selection, and pass on a few tips and tricks. I advocate scraplifting when you're feeling creatively timid. But after that I really encourage you to jump in and not be afraid to put your own finishing touches on it. It's what makes your layout uniquely yours.
And please. Avoid perfection at all costs. There's not enough time in this life to make perfect layouts every time. Instead, focus on making entertaining layouts, satisfying layouts, and finished layouts.
Can you name 3 or 4 elements that define your personal style? Feel free to post in the comments section!

Been thinking about...
...the whole "being caught up" thing.
And let me just say, this week of all weeks I have NO business spending time blogging, but this seemed like the time and place to empty my brain of these thoughts.
I gave up "being caught up" ages ago. And I'm really alright with it. I scrap what inspires, not "what's next" on the calendar. Its much more fun to match up the photos with my current favourite products, than to be forced to dig thru my stash to come up with stuff to go with photos that just ain't movin' me at the moment.
So is the "caught up" trend over? I see so many people doing extremely time consuming one-photo layouts (not that there's anything wrong with that!) and creating altered items, home decor, mini albums, cards...none of these are getting photos into albums anytime soon.
And let me tell one one reason why "being caught up" isn't so daunting for me anymore. I TAKE WAYYYY LESS PHOTOS THAN I USED TO. Less photos = fewer pages. If you ever want to be caught up, try this. You'll be up to date in no time.
I still scrap what is meaningful -- just with less photos on fewer pages. Last summer I gave some thought what matters, and enjoying the moments while they happen seemed more important than trying to photograph the moments without me in them.

Unbelievable cake!
I'm home from another fantastic Ultimate Scrapbook Retreat - possibly one of the best yet - and I couldn't wait to share some of the highlights. Check out the birthday cake that Heather had designed!
The creator of this cake is Debbie of Sweet Specialty Cake & Treat Boutique, 604-466-3707, 22346 Dewdney Trunk Road, Maple Ridge, BC V2X 3J2. Debbie's boutique is brand new and I'm predicting big things for her and her cakes. If you're local, be sure to check it out.
Special thanks to Heather and Donna for all the birthday surprises and to all my friends who were there to share the birthday fun!
**UPDATE**
So....more about the retreat! It was a fantastic group this time. Really great company. And the weather! Awesome. We ate most of our meals outside on the patio overlooking the lake. Chef Ray mixed it up a bit and we tried some different menu items. Seafood pasta! Butter chicken! YUM! The only problem with the food is that its soooo good, that when I go home I'm spoiled and nothing looks appealing and I don't feel like cooking.
Did I get anything done? Actually yes! I did manage to fit in a few layouts between festivities and meals and movies and canoeing.
Group photo!
It occurred to me that I don't have any photos of people scrapping... but we did. I swear.

Monday Morning Musings
What did you do this weekend?
Me, I did a little bit of a lot of things and a whole lot of nothing! I really appreciated having a weekend at home with my family, just doing family stuff. Had a sick little one on Saturday night which took the wind out of him for Sunday. The other one had some tummy issues also, but hers were due to the 'social anxiety' of a birthday party she was invited to. As it turns out, all was well the moment she walked in the door of the party. (breaks my heart that she suffers so much, but I can totally relate. I got "Monday headaches" almost every week due to my aversion to gymnastics classes. What can I say, I sucked at gym and hated looking like an idiot.)
The weather was nice so I forced the kids out for a walk. We counted stinky dead spawning salmon in the river. (Dana, I was thinking of you the whole time!) Yes it smells, and yes, its much more interesting than it sounds!
On the scrapbooking end of things, I got some organizing done in my scrapbook studio, and worked on the designs for the upcoming December Kit. (see previous post) I also spent a bit of time scoping out prospects for the March 2008 kit. Yes, I work that far ahead. I need to be able to sleep at night knowing that your kits will get shipped out on time!
Thanks to Kim O. for her services on Friday. She freed up hours of my time which contributed to my relaxing weekend.
Thanks to Heather, Donna and Nicole for their great holiday photos, which you'll see featured in the Kit Newsletter this month. (you probably get tired of seeing my kids all the time anyway)
They say it's going to snow sometime today. The kids are very excited about the prospect, and I have to say, I am too. Now that I have proper winter tires.
